Kalaw Food Tour

KALAW food tour

The former British hill-station of Kalaw with its peaceful pace-of-life and cool temperatures offer not just an escape from the heat but also the chance to try delicious countryside food made by Shan, Nepalese and many other ethnic groups living in the hills surrounding the town.

In only a few hours we’ll introduce you to our favourite food stalls and teashops. You’ll get to eat freshly prepared Nepalese chapatis to be torn and dipped in potato curry and condiments. Famous Shan dishes such as hin thoke steamed inside banana leaves, Shan noodles and all washed down with locally grown tea plus more dishes.

Your guide will also show you around the hidden corners of Kalaw’s market, revealing all the fascinating and seasonal produce plus a bounty of photo opportunities with the friendly market traders.

The Kalaw tour can be extended into a full day or multi-day tour to include the sights and delicious food of Inle Lake. Arriving there by hiking or private car, your guide will share with you  all the cultural highlights of the lake plus all the must-try local food as we ensure all your meals are authentic.
